I served two 3-year terms of office on the Edith Cowan University Council. This is the governing board of the university, consisting of 20 councillors from government, industry, the community and the university.
The University Council is the governing body which controls and manages the operation, affairs, concerns and property of the University, in accordance with the Corporate Governance Statement. It is the ultimate decision-making body of the university in all strategic and economic matters, approving annual budgets, deciding strategic goals, hiring senior executives, and liaising with government and the community at large.
I was elected onto University Council by my peers in the ECU Alumni Association in 2001, and served until 2007.
