Photographic Skills: Having owned and operated a photography business in France and in Polynesia I have naturally acquired through experience (and a few courses) a high level of photographic skills and competences. I have also been teaching a course in Digital Photomedia for 6 years at Edith Cowan University, and am equally competent with traditional film-based chemical photography as well as digital photography and post-photographic digital editing and image manipulation.
Project Management: One of the courses I teach at university (as well as my PhD research thesis) is about Project Management, providing me with finely honed academic knowledge of creating and managing projects, adhering to budgets, timelines, milestones and deadlines. I have hands on experience at managing multimedia projects, but the generic skills acquired are applicable to all projects, and include quality control, change management, risk analysis, metrics development and costing, human resource management, team development, formative and summative evaluation, legal and fiscal considerations, and client relations.
Lifestyle Skills:
- As a young man I had worked 6 years as a Chef in some 4 and 5-star French restaurants. I have retained an interest in gastronomy and gourmet food, as well as most of the skills to produce it.
- I own and maintain a rural property where we breed a wide variety of stock, including emus, quails, ducks, geese, bantams, rabbits and sheep. In addition we have a vineyard and an orchard. Living on this property has taught me many farming skills, such as animal husbandry, stock control, weed control, revegetation etc.
- I have always had an interest in writing, and as well as my academic writing and publications, am a prolific creator of essays, articles, revues, and short stories.
- I am a keen "Blogger" and have created my own Blog space, which can be viewed at this LINK.
